If you are in the market for a new car anyway and are considering purchasing a new FFV, by all means go ahead.  You will still be driving a renewable fuel vehicle, helping the environment and american agriculture, and reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

However, in the event you are not ready for a major purchase ranging in price from $18,000.00 up to $50,000.00 for a brand new FFV, converting your existing auto may be the answer for you.

Consider this; there are currently 250 million personal autos in America today.  Only 5 million are FFV's.  The automakers have pledged to make an additional 2.5 million in 2008 and 2009 bringing the total on the road to a mere 7.5 million.

Even if every automaker began producing 100% FFV's off their assembly lines, it would take 17 years to produce enough cars for everyone to have an FFV.  Converting existing gasoline automobiles with conversion kits approved by the federal government will make for a much faster transition.

The table below summarizes the MSRP of a sample of the 2007 FFV models.  Again, if you are shopping for a new car we encourage you to purchase an FFV and fill up as often as possible on E85.
